X5K Steel
All brand-new King Springs coils are produced in X5K material. This new generation steel reduces the amount of steel required in a spring, making them approx. 30% lighter. X5K also increases durability and travel by reducing the solid height.
King Springs have introduced this new high stress steel to all passenger car and 4WD designs, also providing various ride height options on selected vehicles.
Not only does X5K withstand higher operating stresses, it also has a superior resistance to sag as well as improved toughness and improved corrosion fatigue properties.
State-of-the-Art Manufacturing
King Springs are designed and manufactured at a purpose-built 8000 sqm factory complex on Queensland’s Gold Coast. At this modern spring factory, the company uses state-of-the-art processes to achieve maximum durability, lowest weight and maximum travel in all end-products.
The X5K coils are peeled and tampered to remove surface defects and heated to 1000 degrees in a gas furnace before being rolled. After that, they are placed into quenching oil to harden to Rockwell hardness. After hardening they are tempered, treated for maximum corrosion protection and powder coated for a durable finish.
